CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: In action against the illegal transportation of paddy in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district, 160 quintals of paddy have been seized from two trucks. Four people were arrested during action by the police and the department concerned.
It was stated that the paddy was being transported from Gumla in Jharkhand to Batouli in Chhattisgarh. According to the information, a large quantity of paddy was loaded in both trucks. During checking, after activities related to the transport came to light, officials stopped the vehicles and searched them. A total of 160 quintals of paddy was then seized from the two trucks.
During the action, four people were taken into custody and arrested. Further legal process is being carried out in connection with the seized paddy and the two trucks. In the case of paddy being brought into Chhattisgarh from another state, the department concerned is examining the purpose of the transport and the documents. The administrative action is being seen as an important step towards controlling the illegal transportation of paddy.
