CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Smartphones have become an important part of everyday life, but when they malfunction, many people still try household remedies. A recently released consumer study has found that 29 per cent of people in India have used rice to try to fix a phone damaged by water. According to the report, placing a phone in rice remains a popular method among users.
The study by OneAssist and Hansa Research analysed consumer habits related to smartphone damage, accidents and protection plans. According to the report, incidents such as phones being dropped and screens breaking are common. Many people also try to fix damaged phones through home remedies instead of immediately taking them to a repair centre.
However, according to experts, placing a water-soaked phone in rice is not considered an effective solution. According to iFixit, once water enters a phone, corrosion can begin in its internal components, and rice is not capable of preventing this problem.
In the case of a wet phone, it is important to switch it off immediately and avoid turning it on again. Instead of using excessive heat to dry the phone, experts consider it more appropriate to have it checked and repaired as needed by a professional.
