CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A new update has emerged on the sequel to Bollywood’s much-discussed film ‘3 Idiots’. According to reports, shooting for the film could begin in April 2027. Rajkumar Hirani will once again direct the film. Work on the story is currently under way, and the shooting plan will be finalised after the final screenplay is ready.
Rajkumar Hirani has already confirmed the return of Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the sequel. Hirani had said in September that the film’s casting would remain the same as before. The story will be based on the lives of the characters nearly 20 years after the events of the original film. According to the report, Aamir Khan will first shoot director Ashutosh Gowariker’s film ‘Lalkara’. Its schedule is planned to run from October 2026 to March 2027. After that, Aamir could begin shooting for the ‘3 Idiots’ sequel. Once the final draft is ready, Aamir will read it around February, and if everything remains on schedule, the cameras could roll in April.
Rajkumar Hirani has also clarified that the talk around the film being titled ‘4 Idiots’ is not correct. According to him, it will be the next chapter in the story of the three main characters. The film’s release date has not yet been officially announced.
