CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : Taking a step toward new directions in innovation, the Department of Architecture and Planning at MANIT Bhopal inaugurated the five-day workshop on “Application of 3D Scanner in Urban Planning and Architecture”, sponsored by Viksit Karna, running until 26 September 2025. The workshop brings together 25 selected participants from diverse fields, including students, researchers, designers, engineers, professors, and technical enthusiasts, providing them an opportunity to understand and experience the transformative capabilities of 3D LiDAR scanning technology. The workshop is being coordinated by Jagdish Singh, Supriya Vyas, and Neha Pranav Kolhe from the Department of Architecture and Planning.

The primary objective of the workshop is to familiarize participants with the latest 3D scanning technologies, applications, and best practices. Participants will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge 3D scanning equipment under the guidance of leading field expert Engineer Shantanu Mishra (Dwiz Consultants). The sessions cover topics ranging from fundamental principles to complex applications, including design, construction, cultural heritage preservation, real-time data collection, walkthrough modeling, inclusive design, and scanning of remote sites.

During the inauguration, Dr. Arshi Parashar expressed enthusiasm for the workshop, stating, “3D scanners are a timely requirement in the fields of architecture and urban planning.” She further noted that 3D scanning technology is opening new dimensions in development, enhancing both creativity and precision. This workshop aims to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing between professionals and academia, while also serving as a critical catalyst for future advancements in 3D scanning applications.
