CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the 40th anniversary of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, a multi-faith prayer meeting was organized at the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRRC), and elderly gas victims were honored. Additionally, a special postal cover was released by the Postal Department to mark BMHRRC’s 25th anniversary.

The multi-faith prayer meeting began at 8:30 AM near the “Shraddhanjali and Asha” memorial at BMHRRC. Religious leaders from various faiths recited verses from their respective scriptures. Following this, gas victims aged 85 and above were honored.

In collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh Health Department, health camps were set up across all BMHRRC health centers. These camps offered health check-ups, free tests, and medicine distribution, along with screenings for non-communicable diseases. Ayushman and ABHA IDs were also issued during the camps. Rotary Club and Mahaveer International donated blankets for distribution among underprivileged patients in the wards.

Special Postal Cover Released:

BMHRRC recently entered its 25th year of establishment. To commemorate its contribution and the 40th anniversary of the gas tragedy, the Indian Postal Department released a special postal cover. Such covers are designed to highlight significant occasions, events, individuals, or places of historical, cultural, social, or scientific importance. They are created with symbolic designs and motifs to represent the occasion.

The event saw the presence of Madhya Pradesh Circle’s Chief Postmaster General Vineet Mathur, Head of Postal Services Pawan Kumar Dalmia, and BMHRRC Acting Director Manisha Srivastava.
