CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal / Kolkata/Bastar  : Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra has made serious allegations against the Chhattisgarh administration, claiming that eight migrant workers from West Bengal were forcibly detained and sent back in buses from Bastar district. Moitra stated that these workers were falsely identified as Bangladeshi infiltrators and illegally rounded up by the local police.

In a strong statement on social media, Moitra said, “Is speaking Bengali now a crime? These men were targeted only because of their language and origin. They had valid Indian government-issued documents, yet they were treated as illegal immigrants.”

She added that the workers were forcibly boarded onto buses and sent back to Kolkata, describing the act as a “gross violation of human rights.” The TMC leader also warned of legal action and raising the issue in Parliament and the Supreme Court.

The Chhattisgarh Police, in response, denied any wrongdoing, stating that no one was forcibly deported, and that document verification was being conducted in accordance with standard procedures.

The incident has sparked political controversy and reignited debates around linguistic and regional discrimination, particularly towards Bengali-speaking citizens in BJP-ruled states.

With growing outrage on social media and political reactions from West Bengal leaders, the issue is expected to gain further national attention in the coming days.
