CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The 8th GST Day celebration on the theme “GST: Tax Simplification, Citizen Empowerment” was organized by the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Bhopal Unit at Ravindra Bhavan, Bhopal.
The event was presided over by Mr. Manas Ranjan Mohanty, Chief Commissioner of Customs, CGST, and Central Excise (Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh), with Mr. Nav Ratan Soni, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (MP & CG), as the chief guest.
During the program, various taxpayers including MSMEs were honored for their contributions, and officers were awarded certificates of appreciation for excellence in tax administration.

The Chief Commissioner encouraged officers to create a taxpayer-friendly environment and promote ease of compliance.
The event also marked the conclusion of the “GST Fortnight,” which was observed from June 16 to 30 across various cities.
During the fortnight, tax seminars, help desks, and facilitation centers were set up to resolve issues faced by traders.

The GST system was described as destination-based, IT-enabled, and self-regulating, providing seamless input tax credit to businesses.
In FY 2024–25, India’s gross GST collection stood at ₹22.08 lakh crore, with Madhya Pradesh’s share at ₹44,780 crore.
According to a Deloitte survey, 85% of respondents viewed GST positively.
As India enters the 9th year of GST, the government continues to prioritize simplifying tax compliance and enhancing ease of doing business.
