Under the guidance of Executive Director Ajay Singh, AIIMS Bhopal organized a significant Continuous Medical Education (CME) program titled “Care for Rare: Together We Win.” This event was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

The objective of this program was to effectively implement the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD) 2021 and enhance the diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases across the country. The CME served as a platform to bring together physicians, researchers, and healthcare providers to discuss critical topics, including:

✅ Strategies for NPRD 2021 implementation

✅ Advanced diagnostic and screening methods for rare diseases

✅ Criteria for designating hospitals as ‘Centers of Excellence’

✅ Development of national rare disease information portals

✅ Integration of crowdfunding platforms for patient support

Highlighting the challenges of rare diseases, Director Singh stated, “Rare diseases affect millions in India, but due to lack of awareness and expertise, timely diagnosis remains a challenge. This CME program is a crucial step towards implementing NPRD 2021 and strengthening our healthcare system.”
