CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A coordination review meeting for the second week of August was conducted under the chairmanship of West Central Railway General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay. The meeting was attended by Additional General Manager R.S. Saxena, along with key department heads from the headquarters. Divisional Railway Managers from all three divisions also participated via video conferencing.

The meeting focused on safety and infrastructure works, with a particular emphasis on increasing freight loading. Discussions were held on various important topics, including focusing on all aspects of the Key Performance Index (KPI), station redevelopment, capital expenditure (CAPEX), developing Gati Shakti Multimodal Cargo Terminals (GCTs) and Private Freight Terminals (PFTs), monitoring train safety and enhancing passenger amenities. Special emphasis was placed on safety and secure train operations during the monsoon season.

At the start of the meeting, Shobhana Bandyopadhyay stated that safe and secure train operations are the highest priority. She instructed the concerned officials to review and inspect sensitive railway sections during the monsoon by the respective section engineers and ensure the deployment of gatekeepers and regular patrolling at all such locations. All three divisions were directed to ensure the supply of safety equipment to railway personnel during the monsoon. Loop lines should be maintained with the same importance as main lines. The General Manager emphasized the need to follow the safety and security directives issued by the Railway Board and to plan and implement safety-related improvements in railway yards.

Additionally, instructions were given to expedite the station redevelopment works and complete them within the stipulated time frame. During the meeting, the General Manager discussed ways to increase freight loading and enhance railway revenue. She also stressed the importance of monitoring train punctuality and directed the concerned officials to continuously monitor the Rail Madad Portal and War Room for the prompt resolution of passenger grievances.

The progress of infrastructure projects was also reviewed, with the General Manager reiterating that safety is paramount for the railways. She assessed the progress of work related to passenger amenities and other projects and instructed the concerned officials to expedite the work.

Shobhana Bandyopadhyay directed department heads and Divisional Railway Managers to prioritize safety, security, and passenger amenities during the monsoon season to ensure the timely operation of trains.
