CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A master class on media literacy was organized in the New Media Technology Department of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr. G. Suresh, interacted with students in the master class and also provided them with tips for success. Dr. P. Shashikala, the Head of the NMT Department, also addressed the students during the master class held in the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium.

Vice-Chancellor Suresh mentioned that a digital media lab will be established in the New Media Technology Department. During the master class with students, he explained the difference between media literacy and media education. He advised the department’s students to adopt a village for media literacy and educate the residents there on this subject. Additionally, he explained the difference between fake news, misinformation, and disinformation with examples.

Prof. Suresh also mentioned the inclusion of drone journalism in NMT. He also discussed the establishment of a Fake Content Identification Unit in the future, which will focus on identifying fake content related to social, health, and education issues.
