CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: M. Venkatesan, Chairman of the National Safai Karmachari Commission, visited West Central Railway (WCR) in Jabalpur. During his visit, he inspected the cleanliness arrangements at platform number 01 of Jabalpur station. He also engaged in discussions with cleaning staff to gather information about the facilities provided to them. The inspection was attended by Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Sheel, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Anand Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, and other senior officials, supervisors, and representatives of the cleaning staff.

Following this, an important meeting was held in the WCR headquarters auditorium under the chairmanship of M. Venkatesan and General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay. The meeting focused on health and safety facilities for cleaning staff in the railways. Attendees included Additional General Manager R.S. Saxena, key department heads, Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Sheel, General Manager’s Secretary Rahul Jaipuriar, Deputy General Manager (General) Anurag Pandey, Chief Public Relations Officer, representatives from cleaning agencies, and other officials and cleaning staff.

During the meeting, the General Manager briefly discussed the significance of the West Central Railway zone, explaining that it is an important part of Indian Railways and acts as a central hub. With its headquarters in Jabalpur, WCR consists of Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Kota divisions, and is geographically located on key trunk routes, connecting the north to the west and south, and the west to the eastern regions of India. The General Manager highlighted that protective gear and equipment are provided to cleaning staff during their work to ensure their safety and health. Under these contracts, over 2,000 cleaning staff are employed for sanitation, with an additional 150 railway employees also involved in cleaning tasks.

West Central Railway prioritizes the health and safety of its cleaning staff and remains committed to providing both efficient cleanliness services for passengers and enhanced health and safety measures for its cleaning workforce.
