CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In the National Lok Adalat, 12,358 electricity-related cases were resolved across 16 districts under the Bhopal and Gwalior regions of the Central Zone Electricity Distribution Company. Consumers were granted a relief of ₹4 crore 45 lakh 46 thousand.
In the Bhopal region, a total of 7,885 litigation and pre-litigation cases were settled, providing a relief of ₹2 crore 78 lakh 83 thousand, with consumers depositing ₹6 crore 10 lakh 60 thousand. Similarly, in the Gwalior region, 4,473 cases were resolved, offering a relief of ₹1 crore 66 lakh 82 thousand, with deposits totaling ₹3 crore 93 lakh 39 thousand.
Overall, during the Lok Adalat, cases worth more than ₹20 crore 22 lakh were resolved by the electricity company. The company had made effective preparations for the Lok Adalat at the distribution center level.
Settlements were reached in cases of electricity theft and irregularities filed under Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003. For pre-litigation cases, concessions were provided to all low-voltage domestic, agricultural, non-domestic consumers up to 5 kW, and industrial consumers up to 10 HP load. A 30% waiver was given on civil liabilities and 100% waiver on interest for pre-litigation cases, while for litigation cases, a 20% waiver on assessed civil liabilities and 100% waiver on interest was prepared.
