CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A two-day workshop was successfully organized by the Department of Physics at Rabindranath Tagore University, in collaboration with the Institute of Excellence in Education, Bhopal, on the occasion of National Forensic Week.
The workshop featured Adarsh Kumar, Professor of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at AIIMS and in charge of Forensic Anthropology and Forensic Radiology in New Delhi, as the keynote speaker. He is a key member of the CBI team and has played a crucial role as a forensic expert in high-profile cases such as the Kolkata Rape Case, Nirbhaya Case, Sushant Singh Rajput Case, and the ongoing Kolkata case. Additionally, DIG Ashok Kishore Yadav from the Police Training Institute, RNITU Pro-Chancellor Aditi Chaturvedi Vats, RNITU Registrar Vijay Singh, and Professors Mohammad Athar and Anjali Acharya from the Institute of Excellence in Education were also present.
During the workshop, Professor Adarsh Kumar provided students with detailed information on practical aspects of forensic anthropology, covering real cases involving buried bodies, burnt remains, and poisoning incidents. He also explained the process of investigating skeletal remains discovered at crime scenes or through forensic medical examinations.
Aditi Chaturvedi Vats congratulated the students and delivered a special address on the future prospects in forensics, while also announcing plans to introduce other beneficial courses in the future. Professor Adarsh Kumar conducted hands-on training in forensic anthropology, where students learned how anthropology plays a vital role in forensic investigations. He also highlighted the importance of the Indian Evidence Act 2023 in forensic investigations and discussed how forensic science currently plays a crucial role in the judiciary and administrative fields.
Registrar Vijay Singh congratulated the department and assured that Rabindranath Tagore University will continue organizing such workshops for the benefit of students in the future.
A total of 87 students from the Forensic Science Department of the Institute of Excellence in Education, Bhopal, actively participated in the two-day workshop. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dean of the Science Department, Poorvi Bhardwaj. The workshop was coordinated by Forensic Science Professor Ankita Sikoria, with the presence of department head Jyoti Rawat, Bhavana Agarwal, Uttam, Shivani, and other faculty members.
