CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Department of New Media Technology at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, successfully organized a one-day workshop on the theme “Trends in Printing and Packaging” at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium. The objective of the program was to provide students with practical knowledge and industry-based insights related to the evolving printing and packaging industry.
The workshop began with a welcome address by the Head of the Department, Prof. P. Shashikala. Highlighting the history of the B.Tech (Printing & Packaging) program, she stated that it is one of the state’s leading and distinctive courses. She emphasized the importance of workshops aligned with industry needs for practical learning. The workshop was conducted in four sessions.
Former student and expert speaker Mitali Upadhyay delivered a lecture on “Packaging Trends in the Automotive Industry.” Her address covered important topics such as logistics, warehouse optimization, sustainability, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance, CPCB guidelines, and reduction of carbon footprint. She also discussed the basic concepts of SAP/EWM, IoT applications, and the stages of the packaging workflow from supplier to customer. In conclusion, she spoke about electric vehicle (EV) packaging requirements and career opportunities in the field.

In the next session, Sandarbh Gupta presented on “Packaging That Works: Real Problems, Real Fixes, Real Careers.” Explaining the basic concepts of packaging, he elaborated on why packaging material is called the “final salesman.” He shared case studies of renowned brands like Tropicana and Paper Boat and explained how errors such as misprinting can affect product quality.
Mahendra Manvare conducted a practical session on “CorelDRAW for Print Designers,” where he demonstrated software tools, color profiles, and logo creation.
Padmakar Santape presented “Origami Block Printing,” in which he explained traditional block printing techniques followed by hands-on practice.
The workshop was efficiently coordinated by Assistant Professor Abhishek Pandey of the Department of New Media Technology. Faculty members and students participated enthusiastically. The event proved to be an important step toward strengthening industry–academia collaboration, providing participants with essential knowledge and skills aligned with industry requirements.
