CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s niece Zayn Marie Khan has shared a video on social media showing injury marks on her body after she was detained in Mumbai. The video shows marks on her arms, fingers and legs.
Zayn was detained by police on October 10 during a protest held at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai. Actor Imran Khan and his partner Lekha Washington were also detained during the protest. All three were released a few hours later.
Zayn also shared a message with the video, in which she questioned attempts to suppress people’s voices through fear. After her video surfaced, discussion has intensified over the treatment of protesters during detention.
However, the circumstances in which the visible injury marks on Zayn’s body were caused have not been independently verified. She also did not give a detailed account in the video of how she was injured.
The protest was organised in support of a demonstration by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Protesters were demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demand is linked to allegations of irregularities in the voter list.
Mumbai Police detained a large number of people during the protest. Zayn’s video has raised questions about the police action and the treatment of those detained. At present, there is no information about any official clarification on the circumstances of her injuries.
