CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: India’s young opening batter Abhishek Sharma claimed several major records with a blistering batting display in the first T20I against Afghanistan. In the match played at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, Abhishek smashed an explosive 82 off just 32 balls. His innings included 7 fours and 7 sixes. India won the match by 7 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Abhishek completed his half-century in only 22 balls, ranking among the fastest fifties of his T20I career. During the innings, he also completed 6,000 runs in T20 cricket and set the record for being the fastest Indian batter to reach the milestone.

Abhishek also achieved a notable feat against Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan. He joined a select group of batters who have scored aggressively against Rashid and broken his dominance.

Abhishek’s innings made India’s victory extremely straightforward. Chasing Afghanistan’s 156, India reached the target in just 13.4 overs. Ishan Kishan also gave him strong support with 42 runs.
