CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : The Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) campus witnessed a massive protest by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). ABVP warned the university administration and the government that any tampering with the interests of tribal students would not be tolerated.

Following the demands made during the ABVP protest, an immediate letter was sent to the Principal Secretary of the Technical Education Department, emphasizing that Jhabua Engineering College—established specifically to provide higher engineering education to students from tribal regions—should be preserved for its original purpose. The letter also urged the authorities to explore alternative solutions for the medical college.

ABVP activists staged a strong demonstration on the university campus, including burning an effigy of the Vice-Chancellor. During the protest, they chanted slogans making it clear that the struggle was not just for one college, but for the educational rights and self-respect of the tribal community.

ABVP activists stated, “Jhabua Engineering College is a beacon of education for tribal students. No attempts to weaken or alter it will be allowed under any circumstances. The council will fight at every level, and this movement will continue until the government and university administration take concrete steps,” said Himanshu Sharma, State Vice President, ABVP.

The college was established to provide opportunities for tribal students who wish to pursue engineering, and its original purpose must be safeguarded. Otherwise, ABVP will be compelled to intensify its movement in the interest of students and the nation, added Aarti Thakur, Bhopal City Vice President.
