CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Regional Science Centre, Bhopal — proudly celebrates the 164th birth anniversary of one of India’s greatest chemists and the father of modern Indian chemistry, Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray.

Born on August 2, 1861, Acharya Ray is recognized as a visionary scientist, a dedicated teacher, and a strong proponent of indigenous industry. He laid the foundation of India’s swadeshi pharmaceutical sector by establishing Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals.

In his memory, many institutions across the country observe this day as National Chemistry Day.

To mark the occasion, the Science Centre is organizing a series of educational and engaging science activities under the theme “Ray of Chemistry: Discover, Experiment, Inspire” aimed at igniting young minds with curiosity and enthusiasm for the subject.
