CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Office of the Chief Medical and Health Officer, Bhopal, organized special health camps in old age homes for tuberculosis (TB) screening and the detection of non-communicable diseases. As part of the Active Case Finding Campaign, aimed at eliminating TB by 2025, individuals showing TB symptoms, those with a history of TB, or those who have been in contact with TB patients were screened.

Health camps were held at Yashoda Old Age Home, Priyadarshini Nagar; Apna Ghar Old Age Home, Rohit Nagar; Kamal Basant Old Age Home, Kolar Road; Anand Dham Old Age Home, Shivaji Nagar; Apna Ghar Old Age Home, Indrapuri; Aasra Old Age Home, Shahjahanabad; and New Pratap Education Society, Awadhpuri. A total of 287 individuals underwent health examinations, with 227 samples collected for further testing.

In addition to TB screening, checks for hypertension and diabetes were conducted. Old age homes were tagged with nearby health facilities for regular follow-ups, medication, and treatment. Ayushman Cards and ABHA IDs were also issued at the camps.

Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Bhopal, stated that under the Prime Minister’s call, India aims to eradicate TB by 2025. Special health camps under the Active Case Finding Campaign focus on high-risk populations, starting with old age homes. Similar health camps will be organized for other high-risk groups in the future.
