News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: After a long gap of 8 years, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, will announce PhD seats next week. MCU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. K.G. Suresh, stated that previously, the PhD degree was offered only in two subjects: Media Studies and Computer Applications. However, for the first time, the university will offer PhD degrees in five subjects.
These five subjects are Mass Communication, New Media Technology, Media Management, Computer Applications, and Library and Information Science. The four-year research undergraduate program under the National Education Policy will also be included for eligibility for PhD admission. Additionally, students who have passed the NET exam will be eligible for PhD.
The duration to complete the PhD will be a minimum of three years and a maximum of six years. Applicants will have to undergo an entrance examination and interview, while NET-qualified candidates will only need to attend the interview. Prof. Suresh mentioned that in the past four years, the university has awarded approximately three dozen PhD degrees.
