CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Pune. In Maharashtra’s Pune, the family grieving the death of Ketan Agrawal and the demise of his grandfather Devichand Agrawal upheld its 37-year-old service tradition despite difficult circumstances. On the occasion of Kojagiri Purnima, the Agrawal family prayed for justice at the court of Maa Shri Tuljabhavani and organised food donation for devotees arriving on foot. During the service, the family also reiterated its demand for justice for their son through the message “Justice for Ketan.”
Service tradition continuing for three generations
The Agrawal family’s tradition was started nearly 37 years ago by Lala Kisan Banwarilal Agrawal. It was then carried forward by his son Devichand Agrawal. Other members of the family are now continuing the tradition. Despite living in Pune for business, the family’s connection with Tuljapur and its religious faith have remained intact. This year, the family faced unbearable circumstances. Ketan Agrawal died at Lohgarh Fort on June 18, 2026. Soon after, his grandfather Devichand Agrawal also passed away. Despite losing two loved ones in succession, the family did not allow the service to devotees to stop.
Prayers for justice along with food donation
On the occasion of Kojagiri Purnima, devotees arriving in Tuljapur were given puri-sabzi, sheera, rice and water bottles. Family members prayed to Maa Tuljabhavani for peace for Ketan’s soul and for justice in the case. During the service activity, banners and T-shirts carrying “Justice for Ketan” drew people’s attention to the matter.
Investigation into murder allegations continues
In the case of Ketan’s death at Lohgarh Fort in Pune district, police registered a murder case after investigation. His fiancée Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been named as accused in the case. Police filed a 5,053-page chargesheet in court on September 19. Senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam has been appointed special public prosecutor. However, the final decision on the allegations rests with the court.
By continuing the 37-year-old tradition amid personal grief, the Agrawal family has given a message of service, faith and hope for justice. The family has demanded that the judicial process in the case move forward quickly and that, if guilt is proven, those responsible be punished according to law.
