Technologies keep changing, but only knowledge remains permanent. Today, on the basis of this knowledge, machines are being operated through technologies such as AI. The media has an important role in educating the general public about technologies such as AI. This was stated by the chief guest of the concluding session of the AI FDP being conducted at MCU, IIIT director Professor Ashutosh Kumar Singh.

In his address, Singh said the greatest opportunities would be created for those who learn AI technology. Speaking on the issue of AI and employment, he said AI would create many jobs. There is no need for anyone to fear it; rather, by learning it, new opportunities can be created.

MCU Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari said on the occasion that newsrooms in the media are changing very rapidly. The tools and technologies being used there today are changing within a week, or even in less time. The root factor behind this is AI. With this thought, AI has been included in the syllabus of the journalism university so that students can learn it. This Faculty Development Programme is an initial step in that direction, under which the university’s teachers received training for 10 days. Its benefit will reach the students. Tiwari said the university would continue to update its syllabus and teaching-training in line with the changes taking place every day in the field of AI.

On the occasion, technology and language technology expert Balendu Sharma Dadhich said India could become an AI superpower. The government is promoting AI. We will have to move forward with AI, he said. Dadhich said the world’s top technology companies are investing in India today. India’s demographic dividend is very high, and because of the country’s culture of taking everyone along, India’s image is trustworthy. He said AI is driven not by any biological power but by the power of algorithms. Dadhich presented in detail the development taking place in the field of AI in the United States, China and India. In a technical session, he also spoke in detail on AI startups and the ecosystem in India, saying that 20 percent of the world’s data is generated in India and that the country has a very large talent pool. Work on digital infrastructure is progressing rapidly in the country, which is why there are ample possibilities for the development of AI here.

In another technical session, senior journalist and AI trainer Devika Chhibber conducted practical exercises on designing professional websites using Google Antigravity and Orbiter tools and on identifying deepfakes. She said that AI is now being used at a very broad level within the newsroom ecosystem in media. Therefore, training in AI and agentic AI is necessary for students entering the media profession. She also discussed fact-checking platforms, AI policy and governance in detail.

At the programme, the guests released a book titled Janmadhyam Yuva Aur Media Saksharta, written by Dr. Pradeep Daheria, assistant professor in the university’s Department of Mass Communication. Professor C.P. Agrawal presented a detailed report on the various sessions of the 10-day FDP. The session was conducted by the FDP coordinator and head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, Dr. Pavitra Shrivastava. Registrar Dr. P. Shashikala expressed gratitude to the guests and experts present at the programme.
