CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: Technology officials, doctors and startups met at IIT (BHU) for a conclave on artificial intelligence in healthcare and assistive technologies, focusing on how research can become useful services.

Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and IIT (BHU)'s Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship organised the meeting. Participants discussed disease screening, medical diagnostics, remote intensive-care monitoring and tools that could improve access for people with disabilities. These were areas of research and policy discussion, not announcements of deployed clinical systems.

S. Krishnan, secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, called for AI education across disciplines and closer collaboration between researchers, clinicians and startups. STPI director general Arvind Kumar highlighted the organisation's 27 Centres of Entrepreneurship and the need for institutional links, intellectual-property support and market access beyond established technology hubs.

Two panels considered health, inclusion and wellbeing, and the path from innovation to scalable healthcare and assistive solutions. The discussions brought together representatives of government, universities, medical institutions and startups.
