CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A false report prepared with the help of artificial intelligence, or AI, in the US military intelligence system had created a serious risk of military confrontation between the United States and China.
According to a CNN report, during the Iran war, an intelligence report prepared about a Chinese ship claimed that the vessel was carrying material linked to a nuclear weapons programme. The information was later found to be incorrect.
After the report surfaced, the US military began preparations to stop the ship. According to sources, armed military personnel were preparing to board the vessel and military aircraft were also in the air. Just before the action, officials rechecked the report and found that an AI chatbot had been used in preparing it, and that it had wrongly identified the goods on the ship.
It was reported that a military analyst had used the chatbot to analyse intelligence related to the ship’s manifest. The AI combined public information with government intelligence and reached an incorrect conclusion. The same technology was then used to draft the conclusion as a formal intelligence report.
