AI in your pocket: Five major changes reshaping everyday life in India
CNN Central News and Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News / Agencies, Bhopal: Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer limited to technology experts or large companies. Through smartphones and the internet, it is increasingly becoming part of ordinary people’s daily lives. From education, farming and health services to government facilities, AI is helping make many tasks easier and faster. Five key areas of AI use are emerging rapidly in India.
1. Better diagnosis in health services
With the help of AI, doctors are getting support in analysing medical scans and X-rays to identify early signs of diseases. The use of AI-based technology is also increasing in screening for diseases such as TB and cancer. This has raised the possibility of improving access to health services in remote areas.
2. Digital advisers for farmers
In farming, AI helps analyse information related to weather, soil, crops and pests to provide advice to farmers. The central government’s Kisan e-Mitra chatbot provides farmers with answers to questions related to the PM-Kisan scheme. This has made it easier to access information about government schemes.
3. A new way of studying and learning
AI-based tools are helping students understand subjects, get answers to questions and learn at their own pace. CBSE has also introduced an AI skills module from Class 6 and an optional AI subject for Classes 9 to 12. Language and reading support on digital platforms is expanding learning opportunities.
4. Digital services in one’s own language
With the help of AI-based translation and voice technology, people can receive information in their mother tongue. The government’s Bhashini platform is working to provide translation and voice-related services in Indian languages. This is helping take digital services to more people.
5. Help with weather and everyday decisions
AI is proving useful in analysing weather forecasts and conditions such as rain, fog and cyclones. In addition, virtual assistants, smart suggestions and digital services on mobile apps are making small and large tasks easier for people.
Caution is also necessary along with convenience
AI can save time and effort, but its answers are not necessarily always correct. Before taking important decisions related to health, banking and government schemes, information should be verified from official sources. It is also important to remain cautious while sharing personal information and financial details.
