CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal and the National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation, Sehore will now collaborate on the rehabilitation of mental health patients. A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed today at AIIMS Bhopal. On this occasion, Ajay Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, stated that we usually do not discuss mental health. He noted that while we treat mental health patients, we do not focus on their rehabilitation afterwards.

He emphasized the urgent need to enhance vocational skills in patients so they can lead a respectable life in society. It is essential to explain to both the patients and their families that mental illnesses can be treated like any other illness. Professor Vijendra Singh, Head of the Psychiatry Department at AIIMS Bhopal, mentioned that post-treatment, patients require the most care, where rehabilitation plays a crucial role. The National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation, Sehore, will not only provide counseling to such patients but also train them for effective rehabilitation.

Following this memorandum of understanding, AIIMS Bhopal can refer patients to the institute in Sehore for proper rehabilitation. The memorandum was signed by Deputy Director (Administration) Colonel Ajit Kumar on behalf of AIIMS Bhopal, and Deputy Registrar Narendra Kumar on behalf of the National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation, Sehore. The National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation is the only institute of its kind in the country, making efforts to rehabilitate mental health patients so they can lead better lives in society after recovery.
