CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal: A Remarkable Leap Among Government Medical Colleges AIIMS has made a significant leap in the list of government medical colleges, securing the 16th position nationwide. According to an article in the July issue of Reader’s Digest, AIIMS was not ranked two years ago, but it has made tremendous progress over the past two years. In 2023, AIIMS was ranked 20th, and in 2024, it jumped four places to secure the 16th position.
This improvement in ranking is closely associated with the efforts of AIIMS Executive Director, Professor Dr. Ajay Singh. Professor Singh took charge in August 2022 and implemented several stringent measures to enhance AIIMS’ reputation. The results were evident the following year, with AIIMS climbing from zero to the 20th position among government hospitals nationwide and then achieving the 16th position in 2024. AIIMS New Delhi remains at the top position.
Over the past years, there has been a 56% increase in the number of patients in OPD, inpatients in IPD have increased from 32,000 to 50,000, and emergency cases have risen by 170%. Bed occupancy has increased from 62% to 77%, and beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat scheme have grown by 53% to 13,337. Similarly, AIIMS has made remarkable progress in the field of research. AIIMS is expected to achieve new milestones in the coming days.
