CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Department of Anesthesia at AIIMS Bhopal, under the leadership of Executive Director Ajay Singh, has received national recognition for its exceptional contributions in the field of anesthesia research.
At the recently concluded Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists’ Central Zone conference, several department members were honored with prestigious awards for their outstanding research, reflecting AIIMS Bhopal’s commitment to improving patient care. Prof. Singh stated, “These achievements are a testament to our anesthesia team’s dedication, innovation, and excellence. Not only have these accomplishments elevated the department’s reputation, but they have also played a significant role in setting high standards for patient care. This recognition serves as an inspiration for all of us as we set new benchmarks and advance towards excellence in the medical field.”
Zainab Ahmed, Additional Professor, was awarded the Best Faculty Paper (Late) Prof. A.K. Gurwara Award for her research on volume assessment in pediatric anesthesia. This research has made a significant contribution to enhancing the safety of children. Assistant Professor Shikha Jain received the Best Faculty Poster Award for her study on difficult pediatric airway management, which provides a new direction in this challenging area of anesthesia. Two postgraduate students from the department were also recognized for their outstanding contributions. Director Srilakshmi won the Best E-Poster Award, and MS Sachan received the Best Poster Award for their work on resuscitation of easily connected cases. Director Sachan was also awarded the Second Best Paper Award for his research on reducing complications in pediatric surgery. Additionally, Ujjwal Gupta received the Second Best Poster Award for his study on ways to reduce anxiety in breast cancer patients during surgery.
Assistant Professor Ashutosh Kaushal was honored with the ‘Anil Agarwal Best Researcher of the Year Award 2024,’ ‘Prof. PK Singh Young Anaesthesiologist Award 2023,’ and the ‘KPR Young Anaesthesiologist Award 2023.’ He was also recognized with the ‘Blackbuck Rising Researcher Award 2024’ at the Medical Research Summit held in New Delhi, symbolizing excellence in medical research. Along with these awards, faculty members were also awarded Rs. 11,000 in cash, and resident doctors received Rs. 2,100 in cash. On this occasion, Prof. Ajay Singh congratulated Department Head Vaishali Wyndeskar and the entire anesthesia team for their hard work and dedication.
