CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week, the Smart Unit of the Pediatrics Department at AIIMS Bhopal organized a Breastfeeding Awareness Quiz Competition for mothers. During the week, group counseling sessions and other awareness activities were also conducted. These initiatives aimed to increase knowledge and awareness about the importance of breastfeeding, proper techniques, and ways to continue breastfeeding for working mothers. Mothers participated enthusiastically in the quiz competition, and winners were felicitated. Scientific and practical information related to breastfeeding was also shared during the event. Experts highlighted that breastfeeding provides complete and safe nutrition for infants, enhancing their growth and immunity. It not only protects the child from infections but also fosters a deep emotional bond between mother and baby.
This year, the theme of World Breastfeeding Week was: “Prioritize Breastfeeding: Build Sustainable Support Systems.” In line with this message, the Head of the Pediatrics Department emphasized that breastfeeding should not be viewed solely as a family responsibility but must be prioritized at societal, healthcare, workplace, and policy levels. For this, long-term, equitable, and accessible support systems are essential to assist breastfeeding mothers at every stage. A dedicated team of doctors, nursing officers, nutrition specialists, and feeding demonstrators played a vital role in planning and executing the program. The event was successfully conducted with the support of the Indian Association of Pediatrics and the Doctors for You Foundation.
