CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal Conducts CPR Awareness Training for Students of Sagar Public School
Under the guidance of Executive Director Ajay Singh, AIIMS Bhopal is consistently organizing community engagement programs aimed at raising public awareness about health. As part of this initiative, the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Trauma and Emergency Medicine organized a live CPR and emergency response training session for the students of Sagar Public School, Bhopal, under the CPR Awareness Fortnight being observed by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) until July 28.
The goal of the session was to help students understand emergency situations, build confidence, and practice life-saving techniques so they can act effectively in crisis situations to potentially save lives.

The expert training team was led by Girish Chandra Bhatt, Bhupeshwari Patel, and Babulal Soni. During the session, students were given live demonstrations of how to perform CPR on both adults and infants in case of cardiac arrest. They were also taught first-aid techniques for saving lives in cases of airway obstruction (choking).
According to global statistics, around 70% of cardiac arrests occur outside hospital settings, and immediate assistance from a trained person can significantly increase survival chances. In India, due to a lack of public awareness, the survival rate after sudden cardiac arrest is less than 5%, whereas if CPR is administered within the first 3 minutes, the survival rate can triple.
On the occasion, Executive Director Ajay Singh remarked,
“AIIMS Bhopal is committed to equipping every section of society with life-saving knowledge. Simple yet effective techniques like CPR can make the difference between life and death. If our students acquire this knowledge, they can become protectors not just of their families, but of the entire society. Such training programs at the school level are highly essential.”
