CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the leadership of AIIMS Bhopal Executive Director Dr. Ajay Singh, the institute continues to make significant strides in strengthening public health security. In this direction, a six-day disaster management training program titled “Capacity Building of Hospital Administrators for Emergency Health Situations” is being organized, which has now entered its fourth day.
This training is jointly conducted by the Department of Community and Family Medicine and the Department of Hospital Administration at AIIMS. Its objective is to equip hospital administrators with effective management strategies for disaster scenarios.
The training covers key areas such as the HEIRS system, patient triage, pre-hospital care, mass casualty management, fire safety, evacuation planning, and technical aspects of handling CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives) disasters.
Special sessions are also being held on the humanitarian aspects of disaster management—such as psychosocial impact, communication strategies, and continuity of services. Experts from AIIMS’ departments of Trauma, Surgery, Psychiatry, and Critical Care have contributed to the sessions.
Dr. Akhilesh Barve from MANIT Bhopal led a session on logistical planning during disasters. The final two days of the training will include mock drills, field visits, and case study discussions to provide participants with hands-on experience.
Professor Singh stated that this training is a vital investment in strengthening the healthcare system.
