CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In the grave context of the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan, AIIMS Bhopal convened a high-level meeting to ensure uninterrupted emergency medical services for civilians. The meeting was held under the leadership of Executive Director Prof. Ajay Singh, with active participation from all department heads, faculty members, section in-charges, and concerned officials. As a premier institution in national service, AIIMS Bhopal has taken several critical steps with immediate effect to ensure the institute’s full preparedness in the event of any disaster.
According to an urgent office order issued by Prof. Singh, all departments of the institute have been placed on high alert. Under this directive, a reassessment of the operational status of ventilators, ICUs, and operation theatres—both active and inactive—across various medical units has been conducted. Considering the potential need for blood, availability of blood bags of different groups has been ensured, and blood donation camps have also been planned. Departments such as Trauma, Surgery, Anesthesia, and Pharmacy are actively compiling and ensuring the availability of emergency medicines and essential consumables. The readiness of BSc/HSM duty staff trained by the Nursing College has also been confirmed.
In addition, for cybersecurity and data recovery preparedness, the institute has coordinated with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC). Measures are being taken to secure AIIMS Bhopal’s data against any potential cyberattacks and to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services. Alongside these preparations, the institute has immediately canceled all leaves of faculty members, officials, resident doctors, and staff. Employees who were previously on approved leave or are currently on leave have also been instructed to report back to duty without delay.
Prof. Singh stated, “AIIMS Bhopal has always been at the forefront in service of the nation. In the current circumstances, our foremost duty is to ensure that every citizen receives timely and accessible medical care. This is not just the responsibility of a single institution but a collective duty of the entire nation.”
