CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: After the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AIIMS Bhopal issued the first Ayushman Card under this scheme to 87-year-old Director Kehar Singh Patel. Born in 1937, Mr. Patel was admitted to AIIMS Bhopal and registered for free medical treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. This marked a historic milestone, as he became the first patient to benefit from this initiative.

The entire process was completed in the ward itself, ensuring that the patient faced no inconvenience. After the approval of the Ayushman Card, Prof. Ajay Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, personally handed the card to Mr. Kehar Singh Patel at his bedside. During this visit, he explained the benefits of the scheme to Mr. Patel and extended his wishes for good health. Prof. Singh also directed the launch of a special campaign to identify and register more eligible patients under this scheme. AIIMS Bhopal became the first among all AIIMS institutions to issue an Ayushman Card to an elderly patient under the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana and is fully committed to its implementation.

On this occasion, Director Singh said, “It is our privilege to be the first institution to issue an Ayushman Card under the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana. This scheme is a significant step for senior citizens, offering them financial security and free medical services. AIIMS Bhopal is committed to implementing this scheme fully, and we will soon initiate a special campaign to ensure that as many eligible beneficiaries as possible can avail of its benefits. We will ensure that our elderly citizens receive improved healthcare services.”
