As a commendable step toward social responsibility, AIIMS Bhopal organized a public seminar and community engagement event on the theme “Various Dimensions of Geriatric Mental Health from a Socio-Psychiatric Perspective.”
The program was held at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS), Bhopal, with the objective of highlighting the social and emotional aspects of mental health in old age.
The event was organized by the Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS Bhopal, in collaboration with the Indian Association for Social Psychiatry, College of Nursing (AIIMS Bhopal), and IGRMS.
The chief guest for the event was Ajay Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, and the guest of honor was Dr. S.K. Pandey, Head of Office, IGRMS.
Chairperson of the event and Head of the Psychiatry Department, Dr. Vijender Singh, stated:
“Elderly individuals face numerous mental and social challenges, and an empathetic socio-psychiatric approach can bring meaningful change to their lives.”
In his address, Dr. Ajay Singh emphasized:
“Geriatric mental health is not just a medical issue, but also a social responsibility.”
