CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The AYUSH Department of AIIMS Bhopal organized a gold consumption ceremony in the Ayurveda OPD under the guidance of Executive Director Ajay Singh on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. The gold consumption initiative began on Pushya Nakshatra in 2022 and completed two years in October 2024.

Every month, on the day of Pushya Nakshatra, the gold consumption event is conducted for children. In this program, 130 children aged 1 to 16 participated, of which 69 had previously undergone gold consumption, and 61 registered for the first time. During the event, Ayurveda Medical Officer Dr. Ranjana Pandey administered gold consumption to the children and educated their parents about its significance and its benefits for children’s physical and mental health.

A drawing competition was also organized on this occasion, where children enthusiastically participated and created artwork on various topics related to Ayurveda and Makar Sankranti. Yoga sessions were also conducted for children to enhance their immunity.

On this occasion, Prof. Singh stated, “The Swarna Prashan Sanskar is an important Ayurvedic process that aids in the physical and mental development of children. Through this initiative at AIIMS Bhopal, we are striving to strengthen children’s health. This program is a significant medium to raise awareness about the AYUSH Department in society.”

The AYUSH Department of AIIMS Bhopal has been organizing free gold consumption ceremonies for the past two years.
