CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the guidance of its Executive Director, Prof. Ajay Singh, AIIMS Bhopal is making consistent strides in academic excellence, global research collaboration, and evidence-based innovation. In alignment with this vision, AIIMS Bhopal played a key role in MP PSYCON 2025 — the annual conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society, Madhya Pradesh State Chapter.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Interventional Psychiatry: An Approach Towards Treatment Interventions,” where experts engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge psychiatric treatments.
Over 200 psychiatrists and trainees from across Madhya Pradesh participated in the event. AIIMS Bhopal’s academic involvement stood out prominently. The Dean (Academics) of AIIMS Bhopal was invited as a distinguished guest, where he emphasized the urgent need to integrate mental health into general health services.
AIIMS Bhopal’s postgraduate psychiatry trainees secured first place in the quiz competition, demonstrating the institute’s academic excellence. Furthermore, Dr. Vijendra Singh, Head of the Department of Psychiatry at AIIMS Bhopal, was elected President of the Ideal Psychiatry Welfare Society — the official body of psychiatrists in Madhya Pradesh.
The scientific sessions featured discussions on advanced psychiatric interventions such as Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) therapy, Ultra-Brief Pulse ECT, Ketamine Infusion Therapy, and Precision Medicine. The conference also hosted symposiums, workshops, panel discussions, and research paper/poster presentations.
Dr. Saloni Sidana, Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), Madhya Pradesh, and CEO of the State Mental Health Authority, addressed the conference as a guest of honor. She shared her vision for expanding mental health services across the state and announced plans for large-scale collaboration between NHM Madhya Pradesh and AIIMS Bhopal.
