CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal Executive Director Ajay Singh encouraged the first batch of Master of Hospital Management (MHM) students to develop ways to raise public awareness about various health schemes launched periodically by the Government of India for patient benefit during an interactive meeting. He emphasized that every eligible patient has the right to benefit from these schemes, which is only possible if patients are well-informed about the schemes and their benefits. He further stressed the importance of identifying and addressing any barriers that may hinder patients from accessing these services. Approximately 60% of patients at AIIMS Bhopal benefit from schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, BPL Assistance, Janani Suraksha Yojana, Janani Suraksha Program, PMRF, and CMRF. Additionally, the ‘Rogi Kalyan Samiti’ provides support to underprivileged patients.
Prof. Singh encouraged hospital management students to seize career opportunities in the expanding healthcare sector, particularly in hospitals, where trained professionals in hospital management are in high demand. He advised students to focus on various specialized areas within hospital management, such as hospital operations, facility management, auxiliary service management, quality, accreditation, patient safety, and health insurance.
In June 2024, AIIMS Bhopal conducted an entrance exam to fill six seats for the MHM program, with approximately 65 candidates from diverse backgrounds, including doctors, engineers, and graduates, participating. Faculty members from the Department of Hospital Administration, Laxmi Prasad and K.K. Pandita, presented the profiles of the first batch of students to the Executive Director.
