Under the guidance of AIIMS Bhopal Executive Director Ajay Singh, the Department of Anatomy has launched a three-day ISAK (International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry) Level 1 course and workshop on kinanthropometry. The primary objective of this program is to promote kinanthropometry research and highlight its significance across various medical and healthcare domains.

Kinanthropometry is a method of measuring human body size and composition, including parameters such as height, weight, muscle mass, bone structure, and fat distribution. This technique is particularly useful in sports, health, and fitness to understand body function and optimize performance.

Emphasizing the importance of kinanthropometry, Director Singh stated, “Kinanthropometry helps in understanding body composition, allowing doctors to develop better diagnostic, treatment, and preventive strategies. Promoting this course and its knowledge is essential to ensure more personalized and effective healthcare for patients.” The program was attended by the course chairperson and Head of the Anatomy Department, Prof. Bertha Eddy Rathinam.

The ISAK Level 1 course provides a scientific study of various aspects of human body composition, playing a vital role in fields such as medicine, sports medicine, physical fitness, physiotherapy, and anatomy. Faculty members and resident doctors from AIIMS Bilaspur, AIIMS Kalyani, GMC Bhopal, GRMC Gwalior, Safdarjung Hospital Delhi, Kolkata, and Amravati (Maharashtra) are participating in theoretical and practical sessions.
