CNN Central News & Network – ITDC India E-Press/ITDC News, Bhopal: Under the leadership of Executive Director Ajay Singh, AIIMS Bhopal has taken a significant step toward establishing a brain-dead organ transplant program. As part of this effort, the institute has introduced a structured grief counseling initiative for its faculty and staff. This initiative focuses on addressing the emotional and psychological challenges involved in managing brain-dead donors and supporting grieving families.

The grief counseling sessions were conducted by a specialized team comprising transplant surgeons, anesthesiologists, trained psychologists, and grief management counselors.

Explaining the importance of this initiative, Director Singh stated, “The brain-dead organ transplant program is a major milestone for AIIMS Bhopal. It has the potential to save numerous lives, but understanding the emotional challenges is essential. These sessions prepare our team to handle such situations with sensitivity and professionalism.”

Participants in this program included Vijendra Singh, Sunaina, Director Surendra, Ketan, and psychologist Mohit Kumar. The sessions aimed to train healthcare workers to communicate compassionately with grieving families and maintain composure in high-stress situations.

Workshops based on role-playing, case discussions, and self-care techniques were conducted. These workshops were designed to equip participants with practical skills to effectively handle the complexities of the brain-dead donor initiative.
