CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the guidance of Executive Director Ajay Singh, AIIMS Bhopal organized a significant Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on leprosy for postgraduate students. The event saw participation from postgraduate students of various medical colleges in Bhopal.

The primary objective of this CME was to promote collaboration among medical institutions by facilitating intercollegiate academic meetings. These interactions aimed to enhance knowledge exchange and provide better learning opportunities for students. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared this year’s theme as “Unite, Act, Eliminate,” emphasizing the need for unity, early diagnosis, and effective treatment to eradicate leprosy through collective efforts.

On this occasion, Prof. Singh stated, “Leprosy is not just a physical challenge; it is also crucial to address the misconceptions and discrimination associated with it. We must view it as a medical challenge and work towards increasing awareness and empathy in society. This CME program is designed to equip future doctors with better knowledge to contribute effectively to leprosy treatment.”

The program played a vital role in fostering sensitivity and empathy towards leprosy within society. The event was chaired by Jereen Mathews, while Manish Khandare served as the organizing secretary.
