CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal successfully organized an “Organ Donation Awareness Campaign” at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT). The purpose of the event was to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and dispel misconceptions surrounding it. AIIMS Bhopal’s Executive Director, Ajay Singh, stated, “Organ donation is a noble act that has the power to save lives and offer a new chance to those suffering from severe organ failures. Through this awareness campaign, AIIMS Bhopal reaffirms its commitment to promoting the importance of organ donation and educating people about it. It is our collective responsibility to encourage as many people as possible to pledge for organ donation and give others a second chance at life.”
The primary objective of the campaign was to highlight the life-saving significance of organ donation, particularly for patients suffering from severe organ diseases such as kidney, liver, heart, or lung failure. These conditions often lead to death due to the unavailability of suitable organs for transplantation. The event provided information on who can donate organs, how the donation process works, and who can receive the donated organs.
Several experts from AIIMS Bhopal shared their insights during the event. Professor and Head of the Nephrology Department, Mahendra Atlani, discussed the importance of organ donation. Assistant Professor (Urology) Nikita Srivastava gave a presentation on “Cadaver Organ Donation – The Gift of Life,” and Additional Professor (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery) Yogesh Nivaria shed light on the significance of brain death in the organ donation process. Lastly, Additional Professor (Anesthesia) Sunina Tejpal answered questions from participants.
At the end of the event, participants pledged to raise awareness about organ donation and inspire society to participate in this noble cause. AIIMS Bhopal plans to organize more such events in the future to significantly improve public health and awareness of organ donation. The event took place at MANIT’s Civil Auditorium, with a large number of students, faculty members, and the general public in attendance.
