CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal Launches Public Awareness Campaign on Autistic Pride Day
Under the guidance of Executive Director Dr. Ajay Singh, AIIMS Bhopal organized a special public awareness campaign on the occasion of Autistic Pride Day.
This day is celebrated globally to honor the unique abilities, identity, and rights of individuals on the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). On this occasion, the general public was provided with in-depth information about autism.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurological developmental difference, where individuals may exhibit variations in social interaction, communication, behavior, and cognitive processing.
It is considered a form of neurodiversity — a unique but equally valuable way of understanding, experiencing, and responding to the world. Some autistic individuals may also display exceptional abilities in specific areas.
As part of the program, expert doctors from AIIMS Bhopal conducted interactive sessions, educational exhibitions, and practical guidance workshops. These sessions covered:
Early signs of autism
Social and family-related aspects of ASD
Effective ways to provide support and care
On this occasion, Prof. Ajay Singh remarked:
“Awareness is the first and most essential step toward building an inclusive society. Autistic Pride Day reminds us that every individual, regardless of neurological differences, deserves equal respect and opportunity. When we view autism not as a limitation but as a different way of thinking and experiencing life, we foster a society rich in humanity.”
The campaign aimed to educate citizens, dispel common myths about autism, and help create a more supportive and empathetic environment for autistic individuals.
