CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the guidance of Executive Director Ajay Singh, the AYUSH Department at AIIMS Bhopal organized the first-ever World Meditation Day celebration. Starting at 7 AM, the event saw participation from doctors, nurses, patients, and others. On this occasion, Prof. Singh stated, “The purpose of World Meditation Day is to integrate ancient meditation practices into modern lifestyles. Techniques like Sun Tratak and meditation yield remarkable results for mental and physical health.”
The event featured Sun Tratak, meditation sessions, a human chain in the form of “OM,” and yogic practices with self-study. Participants practiced Sun Tratak at sunrise, absorbing the northward rays of the sun. This yogic meditation technique, described in ancient scriptures, is renowned for its benefits in enhancing mental clarity, improving vision, and fostering spiritual growth. The benefits of Sun Tratak include better eyesight, improved concentration, reduced stress, and increased energy. During the meditation session, participants practiced pranayama and meditation to boost mental and physical well-being.
Additionally, participants formed the shape of “OM” to emphasize the significance of meditation and engaged in yoga, pranayama, and self-study. As per the United Nations declaration, World Meditation Day will now be observed every year on December 21. This day, marking the sun’s northward movement and the start of longer days, is considered auspicious for positive energy and health.
Dr. Danish Javed, Senior Medical Officer of the AYUSH Department, and yoga instructor Chanchal Suryavanshi shared insights on the importance of meditation and yoga. They highlighted that regular meditation practice is a powerful way to control the mind, thoughts, and senses. This event not only marks the beginning of a new tradition but also underscores the role of meditation and yoga in promoting mental and physical health.
