CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the guidance of Executive Director Prof. Ajay Singh of AIIMS Bhopal, the Department of Pharmacology, in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine, organized an awareness campaign at the Anganwadi center located in Bakania (Bhopal). The objective of the campaign was to raise awareness about pharmacovigilance and DOT (Directly Observed Treatment) therapy for tuberculosis (TB).

The primary aim of the program was to help the community understand that pharmacovigilance — the monitoring of adverse drug reactions — is crucial for the safe and effective use of medicines. Additionally, the campaign encouraged TB patients to complete the full course of DOT therapy and addressed their doubts and concerns.

Through interactive sessions and participatory discussions, the importance of reporting adverse drug reactions and the necessity of taking TB medications on time and completing the full course were emphasized. Speakers highlighted that adhering to DOT therapy is not only essential for the complete recovery of patients but also plays a critical role in preventing drug-resistant TB, reducing disease transmission, and improving overall public health.

On this occasion, Prof. Ajay Singh stated, “Such awareness campaigns are a vital step towards ensuring health security. Accurate information and vigilance regarding pharmacovigilance and TB treatment form the foundation of a healthy society. When we empower communities with the knowledge of proper drug use and monitoring, we can effectively prevent diseases and strengthen public health.”
