Under the guidance of Executive Director Ajay Singh, AIIMS Bhopal continues to achieve significant milestones in medical research. Recently, AIIMS Bhopal was honored with the prestigious International Schrier Award 2025 by the International Society of Nephrology (ISN).
This recognition was awarded for its outstanding contributions to pediatric kidney disease care and its successful collaboration with McGill University, Canada, from 2018 to 2024. Additionally, AIIMS Bhopal has been designated as an ISN Regional Center of Excellence in Pediatric Nephrology.
About the Schrier Award
The Schrier Award is named after Robert W. Schrier, a renowned nephrologist known for his contributions to kidney research and global nephrology education. This award is given to institutions demonstrating exceptional advancements in nephrology care, education, and research through international collaborations. AIIMS Bhopal is now among the 57 globally recognized ISN Sister Renal Centers.
AIIMS Bhopal’s Achievements in Pediatric Nephrology
On this occasion, Prof. Ajay Singh praised the dedicated efforts of the Pediatric Nephrology Unit and commended Dr. Shikha Malik (Head of Pediatrics), Dr. Ambar Kumar, and Dr. Girish Bhatt for their remarkable contributions.

Impactful Contributions
🔹 Dr. Shikha Malik highlighted AIIMS Bhopal’s dedicated Pediatric Dialysis Unit, which successfully completed over 1,000 dialysis sessions and 150 plasma exchange procedures last year, saving numerous lives.
🔹 Dr. Girish Bhatt received the award on behalf of AIIMS Bhopal at the World Congress of Nephrology 2025.
Expanding Pediatric Nephrology Services
AIIMS Bhopal is committed to further advancing pediatric kidney care by:
✅ Launching the International Pediatric Nephrology Association (IPNA) Fellowship
✅ Introducing a DM program in Pediatric Nephrology, with two DM fellows already enrolled.
These initiatives aim to train more specialists and expand pediatric nephrology services across India.
