CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the guidance of Executive Director Ajay Singh, AIIMS Bhopal’s Clinical Epidemiology Unit (CEU) has launched a 12-week course on “Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.” The course aims to enhance research skills among faculty members. During the inauguration, Prof. Singh emphasized the importance of identifying significant research questions, stating, “The future of research largely depends on the initial direction of inquiry. Identifying the right question is essential.” He noted the complexities involved in statistical pooling across studies, highlighting the need for a solid understanding of epidemiological study design to achieve this. Prof. Singh expressed optimism that the sessions would enhance participants’ abilities to critically evaluate and interpret the results of systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
The course is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the methods and applications of systematic reviews and meta-analyses in healthcare and research. It includes developing research questions, designing effective literature search strategies, selecting relevant studies, data extraction, quality assessment, and conducting statistical analyses for meta-analyses.
Dean (Academic) Professor Rajneesh Joshi mentioned that 40 faculty members have been selected for the first cohort, who will undergo a four-month, application-based training through a hybrid of offline and online modes. Professors Girish Bhatt and Abhinav Singh will coordinate the course.
AIIMS Bhopal is committed to enhancing research capabilities among its faculty and fostering a culture of scientific inquiry, ensuring high-quality healthcare outcomes.
