CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the guidance of Executive Director Ajay Singh, AIIMS Bhopal organized various programs on the occasion of World Leprosy Day to spread awareness, eliminate social myths associated with leprosy, and honor the courage and struggles of those affected by the disease.
The aim of these programs was not only to promote a scientific perspective on leprosy within the medical community but also to dispel misconceptions about the disease in society and foster empathy and sensitivity among people.
Additionally, on February 1, a special session on leprosy will be conducted under Continuing Medical Education (CME) for postgraduate students. Experts will discuss various aspects of the disease, new treatment options, and advanced disease management techniques to better equip future doctors in tackling this challenging condition.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Prof. Singh stated, “World Leprosy Day is not just a day for self-reflection; it is also an opportunity to create an action plan. This day serves as a crucial moment to reaffirm our commitment to eradicating societal prejudices against leprosy and spreading awareness about the disease. AIIMS Bhopal is making continuous efforts to promote empathy, sensitivity, and a positive outlook through scientific discussions and community engagement. Our goal is not just disease management but also providing inclusive and informed healthcare services to society.”
Director Jereen Mathews was the Chairperson of the event, while Director Manish Khandare served as the Organizing Secretary.
