CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the guidance of Executive Professor Ajay Singh, AIIMS has achieved remarkable accomplishments on various platforms. Recently, a state task force meeting for tuberculosis (TB) was organized by the State TB Cell under the aegis of the National Health Mission, Madhya Pradesh, in which a total of 27 medical colleges from across the state participated. All colleges were reviewed based on their performance as per the parameters set under the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP). AIIMS was the only college to be awarded a certificate of appreciation by the state task force.
AIIMS DOTS Center has now been upgraded to a TB Unit (TU), serving a population of 500,000 in the surrounding areas and providing comprehensive services to TB patients. The TB Unit is a sub-district level unit of the National TB Elimination Program that manages TB diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and other services and program management in its area. The STF meeting appreciated the reporting rates, record-keeping, and laboratory services related to TB management at AIIMS and cited it as an example for other colleges to follow.
Dr. Prashant Pathak, Senior Medical Officer of DOTS at AIIMS, informed Professor Ajay Singh about the achievements and performance of the DOTS Center at the institute. Professor Singh appreciated the efforts made by the team and motivated the staff working at the institute to work harder for the betterment of society and the institution.
