CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Department of Pharmacology at AIIMS Bhopal, in collaboration with the Department of Community and Family Medicine, organized an awareness campaign among rural communities on potential adverse events caused by medical devices. The program was held at Nandora Primary School and Tekri village in Obaidullaganj block of Raisen district. The campaign was conducted under the Materiovigilance Program of India.
AIIMS Bhopal serves as the Medical Device Adverse Event Reporting Monitoring Centre and Regional Training Centre for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The aim of this initiative was to educate rural citizens about recognizing and reporting adverse events related to medical devices such as stents, pacemakers, and implants.

Through interactive sessions and discussions, villagers were informed about the importance of timely recognition and reporting of any discomfort or unusual problems following the use of a medical device. Such reporting ensures patient safety and supports timely treatment.
On this occasion, research associates from the Materiovigilance team and resident doctors from the Pharmacology Department explained the process of reporting adverse events and emphasized raising awareness. The initiative reflects AIIMS Bhopal’s commitment to promoting patient safety and better healthcare services. Conducted with the cooperation of primary schools in Nandora and Tekri, this program exemplifies the importance of taking health awareness directly to villages.
