CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and pride. The event included the hoisting of the national flag, followed by a special address by Executive Professor Ajay Singh, in which he paid tribute to the freedom fighters, armed forces, emergency service workers, and farmers of the nation for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices.
In his speech, the Executive Director highlighted AIIMS’ remarkable progress in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), moving up from 38th to 31st place. He emphasized the institution’s commitment to excellence in healthcare and education and announced several upcoming initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, education, and research.
Key announcements made during the event include:
Geriatric Multispeciality Unit: AIIMS will soon launch a Geriatric Multispeciality Unit along with an MD program dedicated to Geriatrics, providing specialized care for the elderly population.
V-Care Initiative: Under the V-Care Initiative, each AIIMS volunteer will adopt two families to provide them with support and healthcare follow-up services. This program reflects AIIMS’ mission to extend healthcare beyond the hospital walls and promote long-term well-being for patients and their families.
Clinical Epidemiology Unit: The institution will inaugurate a Clinical Epidemiology Unit to advance research in public health and epidemiology, contributing to the national healthcare landscape.
Hepatitis B Vaccination Campaign: Under the guidance of the Executive Director, AIIMS will provide free Hepatitis B vaccines to all its staff as a preventive measure to promote employee health and safety.
Departmental Library and Academic Seminar Rooms: To foster academic development, AIIMS will establish departmental libraries and seminar rooms for each department, providing enhanced resources for students and faculty.
MD in Family Medicine: AIIMS will soon introduce an MD course in Family Medicine, addressing the growing need for trained family physicians in the country.
Recreation and Health Facilities: To promote the well-being of students and staff, new recreational facilities, including a swimming pool, will be developed on the AIIMS Bhopal campus.
One State-One Health Policy: The institution will actively participate in the “One State-One Health” policy, aligning with national health objectives and ensuring uniform healthcare access across the region.
In his closing remarks, AIIMS Chairman Dr. Sunil Malik urged the entire AIIMS community to serve patients with compassion, kindness, and humility, reinforcing the institution’s dedication to patient-centered care.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rajesh Malik, who expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
The Director also hoisted the flag at AIIMS’ rural health center in Chiklod, Raisen, underscoring the institution’s commitment to expanding healthcare services in rural areas. He also expressed condolences to the victim of a recent incident in Kolkata, a PGT doctor, and announced that the institution would plant a tree in the doctor’s memory as a tribute.
The Independence Day celebration also featured various cultural performances by students and staff, showcasing the vibrant spirit of the AIIMS community. The event concluded with the distribution of sweets, symbolizing unity and joy on this significant occasion.
